COVID vaccine will be required unless medical / religious exemption . Seeking a Per Diem Medical Receptionist for BCHP’s Pediatric Office in BCHP’s Riverdale Pediatrics office. Pay rate approx $18/hr to $20/hr, negotiable based on experience. Schedule will be Mon, Tues, Fri 8:45 am to 5:30 pm, Weds 8:45 am to 6:00 pm, and Thurs 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Position will also require availability for 1 Saturday per month.Organizational Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerforms duties to support the goals and objectives of Boston Children’s Health Physicians in its efforts to provide quality service and patient satisfactionDemonstrate continuing education by completing all required annual trainings, as stated in the Training Curriculum, including but not limited to care coordination, population health management and self-management support techniques.Complete annual corporate compliance trainingUnderstand and effectively communicate HIPAA compliance, corporate compliance and client confidentialityEnsure and/or remain in compliance with local, state and federal regulationEssential Tasks, Duties and ResponsibilitiesPhone ResponsibilitiesMake appointments in a timely fashion, keeping patient preference to clinician and patient preference to time of day in mind when making the appointmentTake messages about medical questions to send to the nurseConnecting patient to the nurse when there is an urgent need or when the patient is returning a callConnect patients to a member of the billing department when requestedCheck in responsibilitiesGreet patients when they approach the front desk and ask for their name and appointment timeVerify address, insurance, email address and phone number in both Medent and MBA and correct if either need to be updatedScan insurance card if a copy is not in MBA, Medent, or bothHave patient sign financial policy or HIPAA statement if not signedGive patients the update history questionnaire for well visits or paper copies of developmental questionnairesDirect patients to billing if there is a balance on the accountDistribute patient portal documents and CHADIS documents if applicableDistribute newborn folder-make new copies of the newborn folder as neededDistribute adolescent information sheets for adolescent well visitsDistribute Medical Home Information Letter and PCP selection letter to parents of all new patientsMark patient arrivedCheck out responsibilitiesMark patient checked outLook in superbill to see if patient will be due for follow up-make follow up appointment when necessaryCollect copayments and balances in the form of check, cash, or credit cardDistribute stickers as requestedGeneral front desk responsibilitiesMaintain a smiling face and a positive attitude when interacting with patientsBe aware at what is going on at all of the front desk positions, offer to help if neededBe aware of what is happening with CHADIS to assist a patient or provider if needed.Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and sensitivity when talking to or about patientsHelp with calling for appointments reminders and reschedulingProvide care in a patient-centered mannerAttend medical home meetingsParticipate in pre-visit planningDemonstrate excellence in both internal and external customer serviceOther duties as assignedBCHP will recruit, hire, train, transfer, promote, layoff and discharge associates in all job classifications without regard to their race, color, religion, creed, national origin, alienage or citizenship status, age, gender, actual or presumed disability, history of disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, genetic predisposition or carrier status, pregnancy, military status, marital status, or partnership status, or any other characteristic protected by law
