OverviewIn a service excellence manner (exceptional expression of compassion, courtesy and friendliness), responsible for greeting and assisting all patients, visitors, external vendors, employees, volunteers and physicians in the lobby and operating the switchboard console to answer and effectively connect all calls and execute pages per Hospital policy. The Guest Services Associate serves as a service excellence ambassador representing Methodist Hospitals.ResponsibilitiesPRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(*Essential Functions) Answers and effectively connects all calls and ensures that all needs of the caller have been met. Assists with orientation and training of new employees, as requested. Contributes to a positive work environment and overall team effort of the department. Directs guests to their destinations including escorting guests to their destinations. Greets guests at the front door and provides assistance that exceeds their expectations. Issues visitor passes according to the hospital policy and controls access to the hospital. Maintains a clean and well maintained lobby area with adequate supply of wheelchairs and other materials (marketing, forms, etc.), as needed. Monitors the Security department’s radio transmissions and provides assistance to them as required or requested in a timely and accurate manner. QualificationsJOB SPECIFICATIONS(Minimum Requirements) KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Basic computer skills (hospital intranet, email, MS Word, etc.) Developed problem-solving skills. Basic ability to operate hospital equipment (e.g., switchboard, paging system, etc.) Ability to interact effectively with external and internal customers to exchange information and enforce policy. Ability to communicate intelligently with outside agencies including the Police Department and Fire Department. Developed professional demeanor and positive disposition. EDUCATION High School Diploma/GED Equivalent Required 2 Office Related Required 2 Healthcare/Medical – Receptionist/Information Clerk Required 2 Hospitality/Food Services Required STANDARDS OF BEHAVIOR Meets the Standards of Behavior as outlined in Personnel Policy and Procedure #1, Employee Relations Code. CONFIDENTIALITY/HIPAA/CORPORATE COMPLIANCE Demonstrates knowledge of procedures for protecting and maintaining security, confidentiality and integrity of employee, patient, family, organizational and other medical information.
